Godinne

The railway

on October 5, 1862, the first train passed through Godinne station during traction tests. The journey from Namur to Dinant took one hour. On 10 October 1862, the line was officially opened with a convoy of honour. Goods train traffic was officially commenced on 4 February 1863. Godinne station was built c. 1861-1862. The line was single track; the second track was laid by the Germans for military purposes in 1914.

Rocher de la Faulx

and the "Le Vieux Bon Dieu" calvary: it was here that the gibbet for the Poilvache jurisdiction used to stand. There were gallows for hanging criminals and highwaymen. An old cross was installed to beg heaven's forgiveness for those who suffered and died there.

The old farm

the gate with the Maillen coat-of-arms above it dates from 1623. The farm is surrounded by an enclosure which is reinforced by a corner tower, although it is not fortified; these defences enabled assailants to be withstood. The farm (enclosure, main building, outbuilding, smith's workshop) is almost exactly as it was when it was built over 350 years ago.
