FOREM: official website http://www.leforem.be/ Bureau de DINANT: rue Barré, 11 Tel.: 082 21 30 10 | UP | The CPAS in Yvoir now has a debt mediation service, accredited by the Walloon Region. Faced with an ever greater number of requests for help, the CPAS in Yvoir, in partnership with the CPAS in ANHEE and ONHAYE, has decided to set up this new service to plug a gap for this sort of service in the region. Who can use this mediation service? Everybody living in the three municipalities for, contrary to received ideas, it is not just those on unemployment benefits or social support who are concerned. Anybody can be concerned. It is not a matter of giving help budgeting, however, but of mediation. The debt mediator, as her status indicates, has a certain negotiating power. She can draw up a plan for paying off debts with creditors, by deciding for example which debts are to be paid back as a priority. Obviously, debt mediation is not a magic wand to make debts disappear; nevertheless, it seeks to provide practical support by carrying out all the social and legal procedures which can help with repayment. At Yvoir, the offices of the mediation service are in the main CPAS building. There is a separate entrance for this service and independent waiting room, to ensure discretion. People who so wish may come without appointment during contact hours on Tuesday from 1.30pm to 4.30pm; - For all information, you can contact Mme Sandra WATHLET
on 082 21 49 32, apart from on Mondays and Thursdays.
